2003-0 ... Champion years

CHAMPION YEARS:

2003-04

It just keeps getting better, 2 Championships and a Cup win!

It would seem that there was no stopping TFC from scoring and leading the way was UNDER 10's hot shot Ashley Goldie with a majestic 49 goals to his name alone in the SBMSC before he was 'spotted' by the Wycombe Wanderers School of excellence.

But it was the league teams making all the headlines ....

Mick Carlton's UNDER 14's continued where they left off the previous season, winning their first 15 league games to set an almost unbreakable sequence of 23 consecutive wins. The division 3 championship was claimed in style by a massive 9 clear points from second place Bedgrove Athletic and a successful season was rounded off  by winning both the Harefield United and Chiltern Athleic tournaments. But there was a bad feeling throughout the club when the team boycotted the club events and made a controversial move to play their 'home' games at Hedsor Social Club in Bourne End, this was done as a cost saving exercise but split the club with many heated debates as the team moved away from their 'community' base.

As if one league crown was not enough, the UNDER 18's playing in the SBYL for the first time, took the league by storm winning every single game played to take the division 3 title by a margin of 12 points, to crown an excellent season they also reached the SBYL subsidiary cup final. Played at Flackwell Heath F.C. in front of a 'paying' crowd of 212, they out played the division 4 runners-up Amersham Town to bring home the cup with an emphatic 3-0 win.

The UNDER 12's under Alan Putman entered into the WSBML and more than held their own finishing in a comfortable mid-table position.

2004-05

Before the season had begun we had a change in management as Steve Jackson burst onto the scene and took over the UNDER 11's from Trina who left to follow her son Ashley with Wycombe Wanderers. In their first season of league football the team finished bottom but did go on to win both the Penn & Tylers Green and Risborough Colts tournaments to boost Steve's already over inflated ego!

Another new side was introduced  in the form of an UNDER 10's led by Richard Porter who entered the SBMSC initially with just one mini team but players numbers grew so that after Christmas we were able to field two sides. The team included Richards's son,Jack Porter, who would go on to leave a big impression within the club in terms of his coaching ability and fund raising.

Mick Carlton's UNDER 15's team continued playing at Hedsor until forced to leave due a mole infestation, the last games were played at Hazlemere recreation ground but despite  these distractions the team continued their good form and retained the championship finishing one point ahead of Chalfont Saints.

Due to work commitments Jamie Stone handed over the UNDER 14's to 'caretaker' manager Derek Nowakowski, the team finished the season in a creditable mid-table position and enjoyed a good run in the league cup before bowing out in the 4th round.

Pièce de rèsistance though must go to Mick Pearce and his all conquering UNDER 18's who were promoted from the 3rd division to the 1st and went on to pip Aylesbury United to the title, the top league honour open to the club! Aylesbury gained revenge though beating us 1-2 in the League Cup final played at Aylesbury United Buckingham Road stadium in front of a crowd of a few hundred including 2 coach loads from High Wycombe! Captain of the side over these two record breaking seasons was Mark Nisbet who has since gone to play for Maidenhead United and Slough Town.

To round off a highly satisfying season Mark Philo was our guest of honour for the end of season awards. Mark had just broken into the Wycombe Wanderers senior team coming up through the youth ranks and had a promising future in front of him, it is with much sadness that within a year he tragically died in a car accident.

to be continued
